The pharmacy said her symptoms included headaches, nausea, dizziness and, in severe cases, a ‘severe drop in blood pressure’ after taking the pills.
The pharmacist said it was ‘very difficult’ for her to tell whether the pills were from a reliable source and that she had bought them from another company.
The medication is also for women. It comes in tablets of 50mg and 100mg, with the tablets available in packs of four and eight.
Smith said she was prescribed the blue pill by the pharmacist, who told her that her symptoms ‘had been coming back to normal’ and that ‘we should be careful.’
‘I had taken it for a year, but now I’m not feeling well, I have a little stuffy nose and I’m just not hungry. It’s affecting my body’s ability to process,’ she said.
The pharmacist, who asked not to be named, said he had bought it online to treat her symptoms.
He said he knew that the medication, which comes in a pill and contains the active ingredient sildenafil, was only available on prescription from a doctor and was not approved by the US Food and Drug Administration. He said the pill had been found to be ineffective.
He said the pill had to be taken for at least a year and that the side effects were ‘very serious’.
The FDA has so far not approved Viagra or other similar medications for women, but the drug has been linked to a dangerous increase in the risk of stroke and heart attack. The drug also has been linked to a higher risk of bleeding, heart attacks and a stroke. The side effects have included headache, facial flushing, indigestion, nasal congestion and nasal polyps.
